Who am I?
My name is Justin Waite and I live on the south coast of England with Meagan, Fred and Monty.
I believe being happy is the most important state of being we can achieve in life.
This is not because I’m always happy, in fact, quite the opposite.
I often experience moods of darkness, which, in my more positive moments, help me appreciate the happy times.
When I was five and half months old I burnt my right hand on an electric cooking ring. To date I’ve had 21 skins graphs performed on it.
When I was five years old I burnt our family home to the ground. We’d only just moved into it and so we had no insurance.
By the time I was 25 years old, I’d had 25 different jobs.
Some of these jobs ranged from washing dishes in a French 5 star hotel, to an insurance salesman, to a melon picker in Israel.
It took me that many jobs to find one I was happy with.
I now work in radio, which I love.
When I was forty years old, I decided to get in shape after carrying an extra 2 plus stone (30+ pounds) for most of my life.
So in August of 2012, I made a promise to myself that I’d cycle to work, every day, come rain or shine for a year. I have now been doing it for nearly two years.
Apart from, eating correctly, sleeping sufficiently (which I rarely do) and exercising enough, one of the main things that keeps me focused on the positive is answering this question everyday:
Without this daily positive reminder I would definitely experience a lot more down days than I do at the moment.
